Rider/Guided Hiker Rates: Rider rates include accommodations, meals, maid service, use of our Montana dude ranch facilities (including hot tub and rec room), guided hiking (groups of 4-6), horse and wrangler services daily (groups of 4-6) and participation in ranch activities. These include Monday Night’s Meet & Greet, Thursday night’s Pranzo all’aperto (dining outside) serving complimentary tastings of local Montana Brews. After you can choose to go to the West Yellowstone Rodeo or Music in the Big Sky Meadow (seasonal).  Friday night’s cookout with music, steaks, burgers and brats in the main lodge.

Non-Rider Rates: Non-rider rates includes all the things mentioned above but does not include any horse and wrangler services. If you choose the non-rider rate, we cannot guarantee availability for you to switch to a rider. We do NOT offer the option to add a ride to a non-rider rate.

Additional Fees and Services:

  • Accommodations Tax: Montana has an 8% lodging tax on the lodging portion of your stay
  • Service Charge: Automatic 18% service charge will be added to your bill you are welcome to increase this if you would like. This is split evenly among our entire staff.
  • Airport Transportation: We do not offer airport transportation. All our guests rent a car, or you can book a shuttle service through 406 Shuttle. 406 Shuttle Rates: 406 Shuttle Service provides one-way transportation between Bozeman Airport (BZN) and Covered Wagon Ranch or Covered Wagon Ranch to Bozeman Airport. Rates vary by group size and vehicle type, starting at $240 for 1–2 guests in a mid-size SUV, $300 for 3–5 guests in a full-size SUV, $375 for 3–6 guests in a full-size SUV with a luggage trailer for extra bags, and $600 for groups of 6–12 guests traveling in a luxury van. Gratuity is not included.
  • Childcare Services: We do not offer babysitting at Covered Wagon Ranch, for services book directly at bigskysitters.com
  • Pack Trips: Available in July- Two night overnight horseback pack trip riding into Yellowstone Park and Gallatin National Forest. You must book as a rider with a 6-night stay. We limit our trips to one per week, departing on Tuesday and returning on Thursday. Minimum age is 12 years old.  $800 per person will be added to the regular cost of their stay at the ranch for Pack Trips.
  • Off-Ranch Activities: whitewater rafting, zip-lining, guided tours of Yellowstone, and guided fishing are all conducted by non-ranch licensed outfitters and require fees in addition to the all-inclusive rates at Covered Wagon Ranch. We are happy to recommend guides in the area to provide these services for you while you stay at our Montana guest ranch.

Weight Restrictions: We have a strict 220 pound weight and 31 max BMI restriction for riding. This will be enforced due to the riding we do and the safety of our horses and guests. If you book as a rider and are over the weight limit or BMI you will be switched to a non-rider and not able to ride during your stay. Use the calculator below to work out your BMI. Reservations and Refunds for All-Inclusive Montana Dude Ranch Vacations

We recommend booking at least six to nine months in advance. We cannot hold a reservation/cabin without a deposit. A 30% deposit is required to confirm your lodging reservation and to hold your cabin. We accept all Credit Cards, Check, or Cash.  Sunday Check-in is 4PM and Check-out is 10AM. No early check-ins are offered on Sundays. The balance of your stay is due 60 days prior to your reservation (unless you plan to pay with check or cash-must let CWR know ahead of time).

Travel Insurance: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we suggest purchasing Travel Insurance through a company such as Travel Guard. https://duderanch.org/triptravel-insurance If you choose to decline purchasing travel insurance, below is our Cancellation Policy and will be enforced in all reservations and does not exclude when you booked or the circumstance (family/medical emergency, plane cancellations/missed flights or sickness). Please understand we are running a business, and our cancellation policy must be strict and enforced, we do not offer ANY exceptions, please plan for the worse.

Credit Card Fees Effective immediately a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be applied to all credit card transactions. If you would like to avoid the processing fee, you may pay by ACH (bank transfer) through the payment link at no additional charge. If you prefer to receive our 5% cash discount, simply let us know before making your final payment, and we will be happy to update your final statement accordingly.

The most common Cancellation Questions

  • If a reservation of less than 10 people is canceled prior to December 31, your deposit will be refunded less a $500.00 cancellation/processing fee. If a reservation of more than 10 people is canceled prior to December 31, your deposit will be refunded less a $1,000.00 cancellation/processing fees. A 3.5% credit card processing fee will be applied to all cancellations on credit card refunds.
  • If any reservation is cancelled after December 31, your deposit is non-refundable.
  • If any reservation is cancelled by April 1, you will have the option to credit your deposit to the following year with a $500 processing/reservation change fee. If cancelled 2nd time for any reason no refund will be given. Rates will be updated to current year no specials are transferred over.
  • Balance is due 60 days ahead of time unless planning to pay with a cash or check. If a reservation is cancelled for any reason within sixty days of your stay payment in full is required and will be charged in full to your card.
  • Any changes you make to your reservation after booking that result in your balance being lowered a charge of $500 will be added to your bill (example lowering numbers in party checking in/out late/early). If you cancel a cabin all together from your reservation (example you have two cabins reserved and cancel one) a fee of $1,000 will be charged. Last minute changes (within 60 days-due to flights or sickness) no refunds will be given.
  • If a check is returned, there will be a $500 fee on top of the bank fees and unable to make future reservations.
  • Due to unexpected situations that result in our ranch being shut down, such as a forest fire all money received will be transferred to the following year and rates updated to that following year. No specialty rates are transferred over, and no refunds of any kind are given. If you are unable to make it the following year you will forfeit that deposit.
  • Absolutely no refunds due to inclement weather-rain, snow, smoke, wind etc.
  • Corona Virus-No refunds will be given due to Covid-19. Our regular cancellation policy is in full effect. Please purchase travel insurance if you are concerned.
