There’s even more to see and do at our Montana family resort.

There’s plenty else to do when you aren’t out horseback riding, eating great food, or relaxing in your cabin. In addition to fishing & water fun, fun for kids, and area attractions, there’s our amazing rec hall with piano, pool table, foosball, shuffleboard, basketball and board games. There are also two playgrounds, lawn games, a gift shop, workout area, and laundry facilities. Come explore these extras that are awaiting your visit to our guest ranch, the original Montana family resort.

The Rec Hall

The Rec Hall is fun place where guests can feel free to put up the feet and relax. There’s a comfortable sofa that sits in front of a cozy fire, a pool table, foosball table, piano, and lots of games. On Friday night, we have a Cookout at the Rec Hall, complete with live music from a local band, dancing, playing indoor and outdoor games and teaching guests how to rope and rope the “dummy” steer.

Outdoor Fun & Games

Outside the Rec Hall you’ll find a playground, horseshoes, corn-hole and other lawn games. In addition, guests enjoy swimming or floating the river, fishing, and visiting with the animals (you’ll meet horses, cats, dogs, and Nellie our resident Micro Juliana Pig)! Hiking is another way to get out and enjoy the outdoors. You can hike directly from the ranch into the Custer-Gallatin National Forest, Lee Metcalf Wilderness or spend the day in Yellowstone National Park. The choices are endless and we would love to get out and show you the beautiful country we get to call home!

Our Gift Shop

Forget something? No worries, we stock some essentials in the gift shop in addition to hats, shirts and other mementos to remember your time at the ranch.

What our Guests are Saying:

Amazing!!! This is actually a really hard review to write because there are so many wonderful things to write about!! Our family of four (kids ages 8 and 11) had the absolute best time at the Covered Wagon Ranch this past August. From the moment we arrived, we truly felt like we were a part of the ranch. Staff came up to us and introduced themselves; everyone offered to do whatever they could to make us feel welcome. We are not horse people, and my husband and son were quite nervous about the riding. Thanks to the Melissa and the kind wranglers, we all had great experiences. Kurt set up a fly fishing afternoon which was a great experience! Our cabin was perfect, the food is AMAZING!! Our kids are picky eaters and Roy, the chef, made them special meals every night. And when it comes to lunch, ALWAYS order the chef’s special, don’t even bother asking what it is, it will be amazing. The cabins are amazing, as are the entire grounds. What really stood out though, above all, were the people at the ranch. From the owners, to the wranglers and all staff…everyone was helpful, engaging and just plain nice. Leaving will be the hardest part of your time at the ranch.
